The Royal Oak Bigbury

Local Information

Being situated close to the South Devon Coastal Path, The Oak is a popular destination for walkers wanting to pamper themselves before striking forth and as the picturesque Bigbury Bay Golf Club is only a stones throw away we make an ideal alternative 19th hole. Additionally, if you’re planning a few days incorporating several rounds of golf, perhaps at Bigbury, Thurlestone and Dartmouth we’re perfectly placed and equipped to look after you.... whatever the weather!

With the award winning beaches of Bigbury and Bantham and the beautiful Burgh Island on our doorstep we are equally popular with water-sports enthusiasts whether surfing, windsurfing, kite surfing or just messing about in our crystal clear waters.

Only a few miles away lies the quaint town of Modbury (the first to dispense with plastic carrier-bags) which offers a variety of shops, an art gallery and the renowned Top o’ the Steps coffee and gift shop. Alternatively when the tide permits one can take the stunning ‘Tidal Road’ on the way to the bustling market town of Kingsbridge.

Bigbury Bay Golf Club

People who visit this famously friendly, cliff top golf course near Kingsbridge in Devon will never forget the experience.
There's a smile in the welcome for new members and guests alike - and a stiff challenge in the 18-hole, 6000-yard, par-70 golf course. That is assuming you can tear your eyes away from the views in all directions: Dartmoor to the north, Burgh Island to the west, and on the eastern flank, Bantham Beach and the winding River Avon. Sea breezes can make it tough to play but it's easy to find, via the B3392 to Bigbury-on-Sea.
